International Chamber Music Festival 2008
June 15th to July 5th
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the third edition of the “Sounding Jerusalem” chamber music festival. My team and I put all our efforts into creating a three weeks lasting warm welcome and highly inspiring atmosphere for you – in and around all our concerts.
“Sounding Jerusalem” is a concert series for the whole region of Jerusalem that established itself as an unique festival on the highest artistic level. It is our faithful dream to encourage people from all backgrounds and ages living in this area to join our concerts, to share their impressions, visions and feelings with us and to become members of our “Sounding Community”.
I am excited to announce that about 75 excellent artists from all over the world have accepted my invitation to perform in 21 festival concerts, meeting on the roofs and in churches of the Old City, beautiful Palestinian villages like Ras Karkar, Deir Ghassana and Zababdeh as well as in atmospheric, historic settings in West-Jerusalem.
This year, “Sounding Jerusalem” is presenting a further highlight to which I am personally very much looking forward to: the Austrian painter Maria Tupay Duque has created workshops for children and young people. In several courses we challenge their artistic fantasy and animate them to express their musical impressions – the festival’s musicians will play for them – into painting. You will have the chance to see these pieces of art at the concerts!
