Dear Friends of SOUNDING JERUSALEM,
Since 2006 over 10.000 people visited the gratis performances of the SOUNDING JERUSALEM classical chamber music festival. More than 80 concerts took place in East and West Jerusalem as well as in atmospheric venues in the West Bank, in which over 130 marvellous international musicians participated. SOUNDING JERUSALEM grew within few years to be the most acknowledged chamber music festival in the whole region, promoting the dialogue of the cultures, led by individuals.
Enhancing SOUNDING JERUSALEM
Encouraged by the great success of the festival we are determined to keep on improving SOUNDING JERUSALEM day by day and to expand our musical program. Already in 2009 a little office should be inaugurated in Jerusalem, so that the festival can accomplish continuous cultural work. Especially for disadvantaged children & youth we will offer challenging workshops with the artists of the festival and start an interactive musical puppet theatre with participative elements which will tour with the festival, enriching the concert bid and readjusting it to better fit the needs of our young, hungry spectators.
Funding a Vision
To date SOUNDING JERUSALEM has been predominantly financed by European countries. The festival team deliberately shun away from requesting any financial support from the official Israeli or Palestinian side, in fear of the impression of political instrumentalism, which will harm the vision and concept of the festival: to be open for all peoples of the region. Therefore, to carry on developing the idea of SOUNDING JERUSALEM AND to stay independent, we call for your personal support. Only with your private donations, we will be able to continue with our work and optimize our program, build a network of social and cultural initiatives around the Festival, AND maintain our independence and neutrality.
