Patrick Dunst, born 1983 in Graz, Austria. Studied Jazz Saxophoneat the University of Performing Arts Graz, Austria, with Prof. Karlheinz Miklin and Don Menza. Graduated with the MA in 2008. In addition he studied at the University of Performing Arts in Vienna with Wolfgang Puschnig from 2006 to 2008, and is since 2004 a student of the “Chennai Institute for Music of the World”, Madras India.
In October 2009 he finished hisMMus in Ethnomusicologyat the Goldsmiths University of London.
Since 2015 he is head of the artist collective Jazzwerkstatt Graz, and since autumn 2018 he holds a position as a lecturer for Jazz Saxophone for music education course at the University of Performing Arts Graz.
He leads his own bands Tribal Dialects (Varna, Jazz Festival 2015, Trieste Lives Jazz Festival 2017) and Tripod, Virtuesin cooperation with Impulse Percussion, ATMA (India based Jazz Quartett) and the DUO NAIMAtogether with the writer Fiston Mwanza Nasser and regularly works as a sideman with the Jazztett Forum Graz, Jazz Bigband Graz, Emiliano Sampaio Mereneu Project, Studio Dan Vienna, the Berndt Luef Trio (Nicaragua Jazzfestival 2008), Neighbours and Friends (Ewald Oberleitner, Dieter Glawischnig), the Jazzwerkstatt Graz Posers Ensemble, Reinhard Summerer Big Band.
Patrick Dunst has performed and composed for several theatreand TV productions at: Opening Ceremony Special Olympics Winter Games 2017, La Strada & aXe (Street Opera: SEPPI. The child, that never stopped growing. July 2018) Schauspielhaus Graz (TRAM83 Sep. 2018), Next Liberty Graz, Renaissance Theater Wien, Volkstheater Wien, aXe Körpertheater Graz and numerous TV productions broadcasted by the Croatian Radio with the HGM-Jazzorkestar Zagreb.
