The Boccherini Trio was formed as a result of various evening sight-reading sessions that frequent the Berlin music scene. Since their formation they primarily received coaching from Guenter Pichler and Natascha Prischenpenko, and in 2015 were named an official European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) ensemble, studying under Hatto Beyerle and Johannes Meissl as well as receiving intensive coaching from Rainer Schmidt in Basel.
Though a fledgling group, the trio has already received fine reviews of their performances throughout Europe and Australia: ‘A spectacular moment of chamber-music making…from their first note, they offered such a fine, unified sound that captivated each member of the audience’ (LiveKritik, Berlin,2014), and just a few months after their acceptance to the European Chamber Music Academy they were invited to feature in two of the annual ECMA Showcase concerts in Wigmore Hall, London.
Upcoming engagements include performances at Konzerthaus Berlin, the Mantova Music Festival, and a tour of China. As individuals, the musicians of the trio are active in a variety of fields of music, and are passionate in their solistic, chamber, and orchestral endeavours. Individually sought out as chamber musicians, they have worked with Steven Isserlis, Christian Teztlaff, Lukas Hagen, Clemens Hagen, Mitsuko Uchida, Pamela Frank, Nobuko Imai, Isabel Charisius, Julian Steckel, Giovanni Sollima, Salvatore Accardo, Mario Brunello, and Bruno Giuranna.
The trio is dedicated to rediscovering and performing the veritable mine of over five hundred works written for string trio which, though boasting some of the greatest masterpieces, has many works which are sadly neglected and unknown to the public. In doing so, the endeavour to continually develop an honest, original and unified perception across all musical genres will be inevitable.
