Johannes Maria Bogner studied with Liselotte Brändle, Kenneth Gilbert, and Nikolaus Harnoncourt at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, as well as with Arthur Haas at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, USA. He attended master classes with Gustav Leonhardt, Ton Koopman, and Bob van Asperen. As a soloist and chamber musician, he has performed with ensembles such as Camerata Salzburg, Musica Antiqua Köln, and “Les Musiciens du Louvre” throughout Europe, the USA, Canada, and Israel. Johannes Maria Bogner, who has recorded 18th-century French harpsichord music as well as sonatas by Scarlatti and works by Johann Jakob Froberger, was also the harpsichordist of the L’Orfeo Baroque Orchestra for 20 years—since its founding—performing both as a soloist and continuo player internationally.
From1992 to1998, Johannes Maria Bogner held a teaching position for accompaniment and historical performance practice at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, and he is currently a harpsichord instructor at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
